UN conference on Racism in Geneva

I think what happened yesterday in Geneva at UN conference on racism, was inverse to what should be expected from President Ahmadinejad as a hardliner on the one hand and from those western leaders on the other hand. While Ahmadinejad is claimed to be intolerant by the so-called “free world nations”, he appeared to be the most tolerant man in the conference. Despite all those disrespect and humiliations during his speech from both the delegates and the audience, he remained calm saying: "I call on all distinguished guests to forgive these ignorant people. They don't have enough information."
While Danish newspaper cartoons inflamed Muslim world, the cartoonists were defended by the law of “freedom of expression”. The Dutch MP Geert Wilders who declared Islam as advocating of crimes in his film “Fitnah” got the same response from the western nations. This is right for certain, but others have the same right too.
No one is necessarily right, just because his/her voice is louder. Islamic Republic government represented by President Ahmadinejad has not allowed native opposite voices to be heard over the years, however, if we really believe in democracy and in freedom of expression, then even the most opposite shall also have its voice heard. Basically nobody has the right to suppress anybody else’s right to speak out. Over the years we have witnessed that suppression of opposite voice or disrespect toward it, has lead in nothing but today’s global terrorism.
