Michael Jackson Dies

Since Islamic revolution in 1979, over three decades, Iranian government has barred every form of foreign music, either Western or else to enter the country or be heard or spoken of, just on the grounds of being non-religious or non-Islamic. Censorship also included music produced by, as they call them, the Iranian opposition or non-Islamic artists. Despite all underground efforts of the nation to bypass those restrictions, the government was in general successful to deprive her people from elegant modern music especially before the days of Internet and satellite TV.

I do remember when I was a high school student, how the government fuelled a large scale propaganda to denounce Western art. On Jackson they provoked only the rumours such as skin bleaching or s.e.x.u.a.l transformation. What a shame! But fortunately, internet and satellite TV helped provide restricted nations like us to see the real world. Then I found out how exceptional he was in the pop music. Now with plenty of music TV channels, every body could see numerous pop artists presenting themselves. No need to make comparisons; they can’t even touch Michael’s shoes.

He has made a great impact on the entire world which will last forever. Surely, he was a great force in fight against racial discrimination and apartheid. Perhaps he has also had a major role in pushing the United States forward to see Barack Obama, as its black president in 2009.

Regretfully he is dead now. His legs will never move in that magical and legendry Moonwalk manner again. He will never “cry” again. It’s so sad, but he taught us to cry ourselves. The world had definitely lost one of its genius brilliant irreplaceable suns.
