A shocking experience
What I am now writing about has not happened to me recently and as well has not occurred just once for me but as I am a rather stubborn person, it usually takes me a long time to admit something not readily admissible. And each time such thing occurs to me, it seems quite fresh and has its adverse effects on me as before.
While I had worked out much of the structural calculations such as design of steel structure, frequently-revised design of foundation, draft preparation of architectural views and details and even preparation of material estimations, all of a sudden, just after the New Year holidays, I realized that Mr. M, the manager, has submitted the project to Mr. R, another colleague.
I was really shocked and depressed for a few days. I saw some ridiculous naïve drafts by R with Mrs. M-K when she came to me to ask some questions about how to draw those in AutoCAD.
My least expectation was Mr. M to let me know beforehand, or R to inform me afterwards.
When I discussed the situation with B, our head of department, he tried to convince me that I should not mind and I should be ready for such kind of actions. Later I asked M about his action; he said, pretending to be rightful but actually specious, "nothing has happened; you worked on the project up to now, and from now on you do not, that's all". Shame on you all!
This is what we should practice every day in this country. Of course nothing has happened to him! But how about me? A job that I have spent roughly a year working on; thinking, planning, calculating… Every thing gone with the wind. Who cares? How many years could I efficiently work or think while there is always a possibility that whatever you do could be worthless within a blink of an eye.
This is the main reason why the third world is always left behind in development race. The most precious resource in developed world, the human beings, is practically the least valuable one in the third world. The continuous unidirectional brain drain is obviously a major consequence of this problem.
